The 3 people we need in our lives

There are 3 kinds of people we need in our lives:

  1. Those who tell us what we should be doing.
  2. Those who tell us how to do it.
  3. Those who tell us how well we are doing.

We often usually end up designing a world where all three are the same person.
Our parents.
Our friends.
Our bosses.
Our own selves.

That is sub-optimal, in my opinion.

The first person should be you.
No one else knows better than you about what you should be doing.

The second person should be your teacher.
The one who guides you, mentors you, coaches you, and trains you.

And the third person should be your enemy.
Because they will, with brutal honesty, always show you the mirror.

Find these 3 people in your life.
And you will find life.

Question of the week

Which of these best describes your 2024?

  • Salary and expenses - both increased
  • Salary increased; Expenses reduced
  • Salary reduced; expenses increased
  • Salary and expenses - both remained the same
  • No salary as yet; only expenses

(and see the results of others, too)

Results of last week's question

Clearly, most people don't think of Dec 31st as something special. Though as one ages, it becomes some sort of an event - whether it is a party at home or something different.
Party outside is not our thing :))
My response?
Nothing special at all. We often sleep at 9:30/10pm itself, haha!

2 quotes I wish to share

Tomorrow isn't guaranteed. Speak your truth today.

Our actions, not our intentions, define our priorities.

1 new thing I learnt this week

Approximately one million people gather in Times Square, New York City to witness the iconic ball drop - making it one of the largest New Year’s Eve celebrations worldwide.
On another note, nearly 80% of New Year’s resolutions are forgotten by February, indicating a widespread struggle with commitment to change!!

Struggling in your 20s? Why are your 20s so challenging? Because the four pillars of life feel like they’re all in flux: Relationships Old-school friendships fade. New college bonds aren’t fully formed. Work friendships feel untrustworthy. Romantic relationships are confusing because we don’t yet understand ourselves. Family ties become strained because they don’t fully understand us. CareerConstantly unsure of our paths. Everyone else seems to be doing better. We don’t love our jobs. We...

3 things a vacation with parents taught me Last week, I went on a vacation with my parents. This was the first time when just the 3 of us had gone for a holiday, and the idea of it was quite exciting. It turned out to be an awesome experience - much better than I had thought. Upon my return, the next day as I was meditating, I reflected on the 4 days, asking myself if there was anything new I figured about myself or them. Here they are:1. No amount of material success, social validation,...

3 questions I ask every successful person I meet What do you do in your free time? What tasks/activities make you forget about time? What problems do you enjoy solving the most? First, who do I find successful? Anyone who is in control of their life. Anyone who owns their time, peace, and work more than others controlling their time, peace, or work. As you will notice, this definition isn't about money, title, or fame. By this definition, many people who might not be called successful on...
