Don't wait for this please

Don't wait for the tools

"Ankur, your photos look awesome. Which phone do you use?"

"Ankur, your videos are so sharp. Which camera do you use?"

"Your voice sounds so clear and deep. Which mic do you use?"

"You have been meditating for so long without fail, which app do you use?"

These DMs make me smile :))
It's equivalent of asking someone, "Your book was wonderful. Which pen did you use?"

A lot of us are stuck in the wait for the right tools.
The right camera, the right phone, the right laptop, the right course, the right book, and the right app.
The right moment.

What we fail to recognize is that the tool is just that.
A tool.

A tool doesn't replace the hard work.
It elevates the hard work.

A tool doesn't improve the art.
It refines the artistry.

A tool doesn't replace the skill.
It enhances its application.

If you keep waiting for the right tool, you will never give your talent the chance to shine on its own merit.

Share your art today.
The tool will come!

My fourth book is now launched

At the age of 24, I recall being super confused, scared, anxious, and worried about my career.
I felt like a complete failure.

And every day, I receive emails and DMs with the same emotions.
I do not know what to do.
I am scared of letting down my parents.
I am worried I will end up as a loser.

Much like money, we rarely have the right conversations growing up about careers.
It is always about what we should become - a doctor, engineer, lawyer, CA!
It is never about how to think about our career.

So I wrote my fourth book with the aim of helping that 24-year-old Ankur.
And through that, helping you.

Build An Epic Career - in English, in Hindi

Book I read this week

Still reading ON AGGRESSION by Sir Julian Huxley.
Super heavy and intense book. I don't think I will be able to finish it - losing interest in it. Let's see, haha :)

My fourth book, 'Build An Epic Career', is now available for pre-order. It launches Jan 20th. Learn more about the book here.

Question of the week

How often do you watch movies?

  • More than once a week
  • Once a week
  • Around once a month
  • Not planned
  • Don't watch movies

(and see the results of others, too)

Results of last week's question

Most folks want one, but don't know how to get one.
I had made a video on this a long time back - might help. Check it out.
My response?
I have had mentors and they have helped tremendously. An absolute key to success; to have one!

3-2-1

3 pics from last week

Was in Kolkata last week and met my team members based out of the city.
Here are Sayanti (who manages our finances) and Shivam (our resident Audio Engineer).

Random pic from the aircraft.
I call it "chilling" :))

Changed the setting of my studio and clicked this picture. Love it :))

2 quotes I wish to share

Just because it is your passion doesn't mean it won't suck.
It will just suck less.

What people say about you defines your reputation.
What you do anyway defines you.

1 new thing I learnt this week

Mahindra Tractors is the world's largest tractor manufacturer by volume! Its biggest markets are India, USA, and Australia.
How cool is that?

Seek first to understand A 22-yr old wrote to me last week: I'm feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and self-doubt.My father's taunts and discouragement have hindered my pursuit of an MBA. I resent them so much. I just don't want any relationship with them. No matter how much I look toward the positive side of this, I just can't. They don't provide anything now; neither financial support nor emotional support. I'm grateful to them for giving me an education, a roof over my head, and food to eat....

My top reads of 2024 I read 31 books this year and here are the best of them, according to my taste. (in no order) The Greatest Minds and Ideas of All Time because it is such a great summary of precisely what the book claims :) The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read because it is such a good guide on how parents shape up their kids. What I learnt about investing from Darwin because I found it fascinating how much one can learn about investing from the Darwinian theory of evolution. Bad...
