Do you feel tired after a holiday?

There are 2 types of holidays

We travel for 2 reasons.
One reason is to escape from your current life.
This is for those people who often say, "Thank God it's the weekend."
Because that means no more work, no more office/college, no more manager/teacher, no more of the boring routine.
You can sleep more, wake up late, watch TV, mindlessly scroll.
No worry in the world.

So when they go for a holiday, they do everything that they usually can't do in their normal life.
They try and visit all places possible.
They try and eat all things possible.
For them, time is always running out.
To do more.
Because this is their holiday, their vacation, their free time.
Time that they rarely get.

So when they come back from such a vacation or holiday, they surprisingly find themselves more tired than they were in their daily life.

Then, there is the second reason.
When they travel to discover something new.
A new place, new people, new cuisines, get introduced to history we did not know of.
Because through this new experience, they find something new about themselves.
They see themselves in a new light.

They can spend days in the same place, build a routine around it, and just soak themselves in the new environment.
This vacation feeds their soul.
It is not a vacation.
It is an immersion.
They are not a visitor.
They feel like a local.

So when they come back, they are not tired.
They are refreshed.

We can either travel to cover the entire world.
Or travel to discover the world.

Announcing WebVeda's latest course

The most fascinating aspect of working with young people is witnessing their definition of a career.

Only one team member at wariCrew, my team, has held a full-time job.

Everyone else has only freelanced, earning 2-3 times what average college placements would offer.

What began as a fun way to gain experience and pocket money has quickly become a full-time option.

However, I’m biased, surrounded by rebels who defy traditional career norms with exposure, guidance, and courage. Not everyone has that, and we want to change it.

We’re announcing WebVeda’s latest course: The Ultimate Freelancing Guide: Launch Your Freelancing Income in 8 Weeks.

Through 8 modules, the course covers everything needed to start your freelancing career:

  • Which skill to choose?
  • How to find clients?
  • How to build your portfolio and pitch?
  • How to price yourself?
  • How to deliver quality projects?
  • How to scale from a solopreneur?

Applications are open for the founding batch of this 8-week LIVE cohort, with a 100% scholarship for selected participants (no fees!).

Book I read this week

Finished reading Think Like A Freak and did not pick up a new book. We are traveling for the next 2 weeks, and reading will not be an activity I will be spending time on :)

I have shared several books in this newsletter over the years.
A list of all of them can be found here.

Question of the week

Which of these is the MOST IMPORTANT thing for you, when on a vacation?

  • The hotel I stay in
  • The people I am traveling with
  • The attractions I will get to see/experience
  • The food I will get to eat
  • The culture/history/people I will get to meet/experience

(and see the results of others, too)

Results of last week's question

When young, it's the mountains. As you age, it's chilling on beaches, haha!
Cities and jungles don't enjoy a lot of love across ages!

My response?
Cities, followed by jungles/forest.
I love experiencing cities :)

3-2-1

3 pics from last week

We are in Germany for a vacation. Some pics from there.

This is a store in Munich:

A super cute town called Rothenberg.

Neuschwanstein Castle - apparently the inspiration for the Disneyland castle.

2 quotes I wish to share

Only two things matter: what was said and how was it said.
Not who said it.

You can’t gain confidence if you operate with fear.

1 new thing I learnt this week

The reason why we stumble when we are drunk.
Alcohol enters the bloodstream and diffuses into the fluid in the semicircular canals of the inner ear.
That causes a temporary change in the density and viscosity of the fluid, which can create a mismatch between what your eyes see and what your inner ear senses.
It is this mismatch that leads to symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, and stumbling, especially when you move your head or change position.

Now you know :)

There is only one form of true love Someone asked me about kids: Warikoo, what’s the good part about having kids? Like you don’t sleep for first 4 years. You clean after them for 7-8 years. You get zero time to yourself. What makes any of this fun or worth it? Like I’m having a phase I guess having to decide about a family. My exact response was: Having a child has two sides to it. First - it is hard. And undeniably harder for the mother than the father, because she is the main caregiver and...

Ideas are worth nothing In 2003, when I realized I’d be dropping out of my PhD and returning to India, I was unsure about my career. I had no idea what to do with my life. I was convinced no one would hire me, no one would ever give me a job, and no company would ever recruit a PhD dropout — that too Physics! So, I listed down potential business ideas. That was my way of controlling my own fate, haha. Turns out, I did nothing about these ideas! But someone else did. Some are now unicorns :))...

Mindset, not marks Every year, when the Class 12th board results are announced, I share my Class 12th marksheet as well. With an important note. During our time, our comparison set was a small group of kids. Class kids and colony kids. Some scored better than us; some scored worse. So, we got compared with a select few. After a few days, things began to settle. Today's generation has it intensely hard. The entire world is their comparison set. Even the ones scoring 99% have thousands of...
